For over a century, the Douglas Flat Schoolhouse has been a symbol of resilience and community spirit, serving generations of the Calaveras County community near Angels Camp and Murphys. Constructed in 1854 during the California Gold Rush, this historic building provides a unique venue not just for education but for weddings, parties, memorials, and special community events.

Today, we stand at a critical juncture in the life of this iconic structure, and we urgently need your support to promote its survival.

A Rich Legacy at Risk

The Douglas Flat School is a living testament to Gold Rush architecture, showcasing the enduring beauty of classic Greek Revival-style design. The passage of time has taken its toll on this beloved landmark. The construction methods of the era, coupled with wear and tear of decades, have left the building in dire need of attention.

Our most pressing concern is a solid foundation to secure the future of this cherished venue, followed by less pressing historic preservation treatments for the flooring, belfry, doors, windows, and exterior painting.
